Recent Paintings
by Anna-Lise Horsley
to 30 September
in the cafe
Anna-Lise Horsley moved to Cromer, Norfolk in 1995, having spent the previous ten years living and working in Budapest. She was an active participant in the Hungarian artistic community during the exciting and turbulent years between the changeover from Communism to Capitalism.
“The paintings take on a life of their own… they fire off each other, experiment and accident are a vital part of the process. In the studio I use a variety of media and methods including acrylic, sand, encaustic, glitter, anaglypta, monoprint, gloss and metallic paints. I usually work on several pieces at once, so the ideas can bounce around the studio and cross fertilize…. I create my own natural order (or disorder) out of this melting pot.”

Lesvos (or Lesbos, as it was known before they decided to re-market the Aegean island!) is home to vocalist and painter Jan Ponsford and her photographer partner Alex Pagani. Both find the island inspirational, as have many artists, musicians, and poets before them, since ancient times.
