Peter Sek. Rock Art and sponge work

Neil Gardner teaches as head of art in Cambridge and is known for his inovative mixed media work with students.

A Ugandan born artist Peter Sek now lives and works in the UK. He was artist in residence at the Sainsbury Centre. Peter draws, prints an paints and makes sulptures form found objects.

The summer school is a great creative art event for 9-12 year olds during the summer break, allowing them to soicialise with peers. The event will develop your childs artistic skills and awareness and gives frazzled parents an opportunity for a break.

Teather has lectured on drawing courses at Leeds College of Art & Design and more recently Norwich University College of the Arts. In July 2008 he received a College Staff Award, in recognition of his contribution to the College’s Drawing Workshop.

Three different life models will be used. Mixing short and long poses. The course will Improve skills of observation and how to express this on paper in relation to life drawing.

The Art of Garden Design PART 2 (to be undertaken as separate units or the pair)

Students are encouraged to bring photographs of their summer garden design activities or of gardens they have seen in the summer they like. The workshop will study the use of colour, planting and the use of focal points and vistas in gardens and towards the end of the course students will make a presentation on their garden design of interest to the group (supported by the instructor) emphasising what they have learnt. There will group discussions designed to add ideas to each individually conceived garden.

Mariella Baldwin

Mariella taught on the Diploma Course at Chelsea Physic Garden, Sarah Raven’s Cutting Garden, numerous workshops and courses throughout the UK and Italy.

"Using watercolour you will be taught accurate observation and successful colour mixing when drawing and painting seasonal flowers. You will work at your own pace in an encouraging, informative and challenging environment that is about enjoyment of the subject.

By breaking down complex structures into manageable achievements you will progress with confidence. You are introduced to line, tone and colour together with visual concentration to enhance your practice."

Painting Egg Tempera leading to Iconography

You will prepare a board with Gesso, gain an understanding of the egg tempera medium and pigments used. You will learn the technique of layering the pigment to obtain translucent layers and therefore depth. A useful technique for portraiture.
